Wake the Line

For just one day the popular Gorky Park in Moscow / Russia gave venue for a very special event – the first official  Wake The Line Qualifier Russia.
Every season Gorky Park discovers new kinds of sports and activities and this weekend, it was wakeboard's turn.

On a beautiful summer’s day thousands of spectators gathered around the famous Pionersky Pond to witness a spectacular show in a very central location, right in the city of Moscow. Pulled by System 2.0 by SESITEC, over 40 athletes from all over Russia, including German competitor Manu Rupp fought an intense battle on the demanding UNIT Parktech setup, to earn one of the last free spots for the big Wake The Line main event in Cologne.

With his outstanding performance, the only 16 year old Nikita Terskov from Saint-Petersburg could finally make his way all to the final. Motivated by a cheering crowd he put down a solid last run making him the winner of the one Wake The Line Wildcard – allowing him to enter the main event in Cologne, Germany on May 25th

Although Nikita is only 16 years old, he has been riding for 11 years and could already profit from his previous contest experience: “Before that contest, I had many victories, but they are all at the Junior level, up to 18 years. There [at Wake the Line Qualifier] was no restriction on the age, I had to fight with more experienced riders. Before the Moscow stage I was very nervous.”

Wake the Line

After his victory at the Wake The Line Moscow Qualifier he is already looking forward to the big main event in Cologne: “With me, 19 riders will participate in the competition, ten of them were invited. They did not perform at any of the Qualifiers, and they are real stars, known to all who are interested in wakeboarding. Some of the remaining nine athletes who have been selected through the Qualifiers, I know personally. And I can also say that they are very strong guys. But I'm ready! "

With Nikita Terskov it is the first time ever, a Russian wakeboarder will have the opportunity to participate at the big “Wake The Line” contest – showcasing his skills and talent in front of 12.000 people and competing against the best riders of the planet. Soon we will find out if he can keep up with the international stars at O’Neill Wake The Line 201.
