Kyle Rattray's Blog: Pro Tour Stop #2

Pro Tour #2 is in the books: Rathy won. It was cool to see him finally get a win. He’s been destroying it lately, he deserved a win by now for sure.

My weekend also went a lot better; I blew it in the first stop. The first two events are open for anyone to come out and qualify. After the first two stops riders ranked 40 and above are able to continue to ride the tour. Coming into this weekend I was 41 on the tour standings, I was in a pretty bad position. I was a touch nervous that I might blow it again and miss out on riding the tour this year. Things ended up ok though; I ended up tying for 11th place this weekend and am sitting in 18th place on the tour standings.  Phew!

This week I’m going to be working at The Boarding School, riding and getting ready for PWT #3 in Knoxville this weekend, and spending some time with the fam. I haven’t seen my fiancée for over a week, and my parents are in town. I haven’t seen them in a while either. Should be a mellow week, then crazy travel hits for 3 weeks. I’m going to enjoy my time at home this week.

Kyle Rattray's Blog: E-Town Throwdown

So this weekend Erik [Gator] and myself headed to Louisville to check out the E-Town Throwdown. It’s a local grassroots contest that the local Gator Boards dealer puts on. The shops name is Nick’s Boat Dock. It is an event to raise money for charity and they also held a volleyball tournament so all the entry fee’s for the contest and v-ball went to charity.

There were about 70 kids riding and I drove the boat for each and every one of them! I volunteered my time for the charity of course!  We put on quick demos each day, Brian Hutton, Jack Blodgett, and myself all rode as well. The site this was all held at is also going to be the stop for the Pro Wakeboard Tour next month. I was kind of pumped I could check it out, see how the lake works and be able to plan my runs with a bit better idea of how it’ll all be laid out.

This week is a busy one.  I’m flying home right now, then I head straight to the Boarding School tomorrow and I’m going to coach there all week. Then next weekend the 2nd Pro Tour stop is on in Kenosha. Gotta get home and try to squeeze in some riding time!

Oli Derome Blog: 2010 Ronix Catalog Shoot

Waking up on the Monday morning, my brother and I had 2 very different plans; he was going back to school for some catching up. He had been gone for about 10 days, missing the last week of the semester. For me it was a last minute change of plans, Paul O'Brien of Ronix called me and asked me if I wanted to attend the Ronix catalog shoot for 2010. I couldn't decline an offer like that so I made it back to the Sunshine State.

As I flew in, Dean Smith picked me up before heading out 30 minutes south of Clermont to an old gravel pit that had a 100 acre aqua-blue lake. The whole team was already there riding and shooting with the new products. The new line was banging and so was the crew; Danny Harf, Chad Sharpe, Parks Bonifay, Adam Errington, Emily Copeland Durham, Dean Smith, Reed Hansen and I were getting shot by Bill Doster and Spencer Smith for a whole week. A couple of shapes were different, but you're going to have to wait and see for yourself; I'm not telling you! There was an island right in front of ''our spot'', so we drove double-ups right around it. Dean got super close to a HS 1080, Adam was styling it up while Chad was just BOOSTING. Danny got the honorable mention for sticking a super clean Switch TS 1080 first try as well as getting super close on different variation of a grabbed BS 9... crazy I KNOW!!!

Nothing beats team diners at a Mexican restaurant with some drinks, good food and Cha Cha apps from the Iphone... hahaha. We couldn't figure out which smurph dated smurphette...???

As I got ready to leave for the airport, I sneaked in an early morning sesh with Big Spence on the tube and got some really good stuff. I'm hoping I'll have a good shot for the brochure.
